Employer guides

Contents

These resources are designed to help schools and colleges have clearer, more practical conversations with employers about T Level industry placements.

They can be used to:

  • introduce T Levels and industry placements
  • help employers see how placements could work in their organisation
  • explain what students may realistically contribute
  • support conversations about tasks, supervision and progression
  • encourage employers to start small and build confidence over time

The resources work best as a staged set of communication tools.

Stage 1: introduce the opportunity
Use the general employer guide to explain what T Levels are, why employers get involved and how placements can support future workforce needs.

Stage 2: make it sector-specific
Use the sector guides to help employers see how placements could work in their industry or type of organisation.

Stage 3: make it practical
Use the specific T Level examples to discuss what a student could contribute, what support they may need and how the placement could develop over time.

You do not need to send every resource at once. Select the most relevant guide for the employer and use it to support the next conversation.

Adapting the resources locally

Providers may wish to adapt these resources to reflect local branding, employer networks, placement models or sector priorities.

The guides are designed to be flexible and can be incorporated into existing employer engagement materials and communications where helpful.
