HTQ Employer event

This September saw the first teachings of newly approved Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQ) in Digital occupations. Next September, will see more Digital qualifications, as well as new options in Construction and Health & Science. These Level 4 and 5 qualifications are an ideal next step for students who have just completed T Levels and A Levels and wish to continue study in a chosen career.

HTQs are part of the July 2020 reforms to Higher Technical Education (HTE) looking to make them a more popular and prestigious choice that provides the skills employers need.

Research has shown that HTE is not widely understood and valued by employers.

A key part of the DfE’s HTE employer strategy is organising a series of national employer events to raise awareness and promote Higher Technical Education, with the flagship route being Higher Technical Qualifications.

We are holding our first hybrid event (online and in person) focusing on Engineering and Manufacturing on  Wednesday 7 Dec 2022,14:00-15:30 at the Solihull and Birmingham IOT/Aston University.

We want to invite as many employers as possible to attend in person. The event will focus on strengthening HTE, understanding the new approved HTQs, and showcasing modern provision delivery to highlight the benefit to employers/businesses. To join please register on the website.

The objective of these events is to raise awareness, gauge interest of employers to become advocates/ambassadors for HTQs and  increase the recruiting and reskilling of employees.

We are calling on you to please promote the event to your colleagues and networks.

To find out more please contact kanika.roy@education.gov.uk or james.corbett@education.gov.uk

T Level Transition Programme’s Marketing National Technical Outcomes

Help us develop new Marketing National Technical Outcomes for future T Level Transition programmes in the Sales, Marketing and Procurement route.

Gentle reminder that registration closes at midnight Monday 5 December – to get involved express your interest now via the online registration form - please share the link with colleagues in your organisation.

This is an exciting and unique opportunity for marketing education professionals, teachers, curriculum and T Level and T Level Transition leads to work with government and other education and industry professionals in an online review of the T Level Transition Programme’s Marketing National Technical Outcomes subject content in the Sales, Marketing and Procurement route.

The time commitment is for two online sessions, each 2.5 hrs in duration. It is vital that you attend both sessions as these are equally important to the content development work. There will be some work outside of the meetings to read draft materials and to gather views from your network so that you are ready to give feedback. In total, we estimate this will require up to two days of your time, including preparation and attendance at meetings on the following dates and times:

Session 1 Thursday 19 January 2023 @ 3:00-5:30pm

Session 2 Monday 6 February 2023 @ 3:00-5:30pm

Your role in the process is valuable and contributions are important to the development of high-quality subject content, that will be taught in your classrooms. Further information on the T Level Transition Programme is available from gov.uk, including the Framework for Delivery and the national technical outcomes for existing T Level Transition Programmes.

If you have a question, please email the team TLevelTransition.PROGRAMME@education.gov.uk.
