This is a new service - help us to improve it

17 November 2022 - T Level Newsletter

This week's newsletter includes updates on:

New: T Levels Connect service to help you find employers

Our digital team have been working closely with providers to get your views on delivering T Levels and we’ve heard that finding employers for industry placements continues to be a challenge. We also know while employers are interested in T Levels and industry placements, they aren’t always able to dedicate time to contacting providers.

With this in mind, we’ve been working on a great new service which allows employers to express interest in T Levels, and providers to see that interest in order to initiate contact. Our hope is that the ‘Connect with employers interested in T Levels service’ will help you do exactly that: connect and build relationships with employers about all things T Levels - from career talks to hosting industry placements.

The service will launch on Monday 21 November. Find out more.

T Level Transition Programme: New Marketing subject content development

Your support is needed to shape the proposed Marketing National Technical Outcomes for future programmes in the Sales, Marketing and Procurement route.

Register your interest by midnight Monday 5 December via the online registration form to get involved and please share the link to the registration form with colleagues in your organisation.

This is an exciting and unique opportunity for education professionals, teachers, curriculum leads and T Level and T Level Transition Programme leads to work with government and other education and industry professionals in an online review of the T Level Transition Programme’s Marketing National Technical Outcomes subject content in the Sales, Marketing and Procurement route.

The time commitment is for two online sessions, each 2.5 hrs in duration. It is vital that you attend both sessions as these are equally important to the content development work. There will be some work outside meetings to read draft materials and to gather views from your network so that you are ready to give feedback. In total, we estimate this will require up to two days of your time, including preparation and attendance at meetings on the following dates and times:

Session 1 Thursday 19 January 2023 @ 3:00-5:30pm

Session 2 Monday 6 February 2023 @ 3:00-5:30pm

Your role in the process is important and contributions are highly valuable to developing a quality product for our young people. Further information on the T Level Transition Programme is available from gov.uk, including the Framework for Delivery and the national technical outcomes for existing T Level Transition Programmes.

If you have a question, please email the team TLevelTransition.PROGRAMME@education.gov.uk.

TLTP on the ‘T Levels support for schools and colleges’ website and Provider Case Studies

Providers will be aware that up to date information and guidance on all things T Levels can be found at the T Levels support for schools and colleges site on Gov.UK. This now includes a section dedicated to the T Level Transition Programme (TLTP) which gives providers information about how to register for, plan, promote, market and deliver their TLTPs. It also provides regular updates on forthcoming TLTP-related events and any new resources for providers to use. These resources now include a series of Video Case Studies in which some of the early TLTP Providers (those who began to deliver TLTP in 2020 and 2021) outline the approaches they each took in designing, developing and implementing the T Level Transition Programme in their own education institutions and provide key advice based on their own experience to support your planning.

Along with the Case Studies, there are also some bitesize promotional videos that can be used to promote TLTP to your key stakeholders. We hope you find all of these really useful.

T Level Familiarisation webinars

City & Guilds are running familiarisation webinars for Engineering and Manufacturing (17, 18 November) and Agriculture, Land Management and Production (25 November). These webinars are designed for providers that are not yet delivering T Levels and are an opportunity to find out more about the programmes available with City & Guilds. They are aimed at tutors, curriculum managers, trainers, assessors, and quality leads. Register for these events online: Events and webinars - T Levels | City & Guilds (cityandguilds.com)

Digital Credentials for Providers

In recognition of being an approved T Level provider, City & Guilds are awarding centres a digital credential. Digital credentials allow us to recognise and communicate all skills consistently. We do this by using the Open Badge Standard, a universal format that creates data that can be validated quickly and easily. Your digital credential will be issued automatically to the named T Level lead contact we have on record. Find out more about digital credentials: Digital Credentials | City & Guilds (cityandguilds.com)

Approval Window for Eligible Providers

The approval window for eligible providers opens on Monday 27 February 2023, ready for first teaching in September 2023. Application forms for approval to deliver T Levels in 2023 will be released in January on the T Levels Resource Hub: Resource Hub - T Levels | City & Guilds (cityandguilds.com). We will be running webinars to support providers and these dates will be made available shortly.
