Planning your T Level Foundation Year

The following documents are designed to help providers develop and deliver their T Level Foundation Years:

Framework for Delivery – guidance on delivering the T Level Foundation Year, and includes some key principles for the programme, identifies the core knowledge, skills and behaviours we expect students to learn or develop, the national technical outcomes for each T Level route, and our expectations for programme delivery.

Delivering the route-based project – a resource to support education providers delivering the T Level Foundation Year by setting out some of the key considerations for designing and delivering effective projects.

Work Experience Placement Template – to be used to capture what is agreed between the education provider, the student and the employer in relation to a work experience placement.

National Technical Outcomes - The technical component is one of several components in the T Level Foundation Year, which together provide a holistic approach to preparing students for T Level.

The technical component sets out a small number of national technical outcomes of what all students will cover, as a minimum for national consistency, for a subject area.

The national technical outcomes provide a broad introduction to industry-relevant technical knowledge and practical skills that provides a stepping-stone to T Levels and prepares young people for their chosen T Levels and beyond. They were developed with specialist education advisers, a range of education providers, employers and sector stakeholders.

You can access the National Technical Outcomes for each route via the following links:
