The Employer Journey for T Level Industry Placements

A framework for reflection and improvement to strengthen T Level Industry Placements

Strong industry placements are built through effective employer relationships, clear processes, student readiness and collaboration across schools and colleges.

These two resources have been developed to support providers to strengthen the planning, delivery, and ongoing improvement of T Level industry placements by focusing on the full employer journey, from early employer interest through to placement delivery, review, and repeat engagement.

The resources reflect feedback and insights gathered with provider staff and employers about what helps placements work well in practice and where confidence or engagement can dip.

The Employer Journey for T Level Industry Placements provides a high-level visual overview of the key phases involved in building, preparing, delivering and sustaining successful placements. It is designed to support reflection, shared understanding and more consistent approaches across teams and curriculum areas.

Strengthening T Level Industry Placements expands on each phase in more detail, including:

  • what strong practice can look like
  • common employer confidence dips and risks
  • practical approaches and improvement ideas
  • key requirements and supporting resources
  • examples of how providers can strengthen employer and student experiences in practice
  • a short assessment and reflection activity

The resources are intended to support a wide range of colleagues involved in T Level delivery, including:

  • employer engagement and industry placement teams
  • curriculum staff and tutors
  • quality leads and programme leaders
  • leaders responsible for T Levels, employer engagement or industry placements

Providers may choose to use the resources:

  • as part of staff development or CPD activity
