T Levels: Industry Workshop - Health and Science - Preparing T Level Students for a Career in Health and Social Care with Skills for Care
An Industry Insights Workshop for Health and Science T Level staff.
We invite all T Level Health teachers and education professionals to join Ailsa Benn and Denise Baran, Locality Managers (North Region) at Skills for Care for this holistic look at the landscape of health and social care with a focus on the wealth of opportunities available for young people entering the industry.
Established in 2001, Skills for Care is the only national charity focused on building a stronger workforce for the quality adult social care we all need. We work with employers, Government and partners to ensure social care has the right people, skills and support required to deliver the highest quality care and support now and in the future.
In this workshop we will explore:
- an introduction to Skills for Care and their role within the health and social care industry
- data and insights from the sector, including current challenges and workforce needs
- the adult social care workforce strategy (2024)
- care workforce pathway, including emerging roles within the sector
- case studies from social care/work providers.
There will also be an opportunity to pose your questions to our speakers in a live Q&A on the day as well.
Meet the speakers:
Ailsa is an experienced Locality Manager with over 40 years in Adult Social Care, bringing a wealth of knowledge across frontline delivery, operational leadership, and strategic roles. As a registered Social Worker, she is deeply committed to supporting individuals and teams to develop, grow, and achieve their full potential, ultimately enhancing outcomes for those who draw on care and support.
In her role, Ailsa works collaboratively across the sector, building strong partnerships and actively engaging with stakeholders to support workforce development priorities. She is passionate about driving improvement, strengthening the workforce, and promoting high-quality, person-centred care.
Denise has worked for Skills for Care for 3 years as a Locality Manager. For the previous 22 years she has worked in front line care, starting off as a carer, working her way up to Registered Manager. Denise’s last role was ten years as a Registered Manager in a Residential Dementia Service. Denise is passionate about providing high quality, person-centred care and always ensuring the Adult Social Care Sector, with its wealth of opportunities, is promoted and that individuals understand the career options within the sector.
