Flexible industry placement delivery approaches
We know that a great placement experience may look different for different students which is why we have developed flexible industry placement approaches. These approaches include the opportunity for some placements to include part-time work, hybrid (remote) learning, working across multiple employers and undertaking placements at T level pathway to name a few. Click here to find out more about these flexible delivery approaches, including examples of how these can be used. If you already have experience of using different delivery approaches that others can learn from, please come back to us with your examples so we can share best practice.
New employer engagement resources
The Strategic Development Network (SDN) have developed a suite of practical tools and resources to support T Level providers to plan, design and deliver employer engagement activities to secure industry placements. The following navigation tool can help you find the resources you need at any stage of your employer engagement journey: PSP Resources Navigation Tool v2-0 (strategicdevelopmentnetwork.co.uk). SDN are also delivering a Professional Development Programme (sign up here) to support and upskill those in currently in, or due to start, an employer engagement role for T Level Industry Placements.

Post-16 Qualifications Review –Level 3 cycle 1 outcomes
We have now published a list of new Alternative Academic Qualifications (AAQs) and Technical Qualifications (TQs) that have been approved for public funding through cycle 1 of the post-16 reforms. These qualifications will be available for first teach from 1 August 2025.
We have also published details of qualifications that will have public funding removed through cycle 1 of the reforms. The last date for new starts on these qualifications will be 31 July 2025 and students will be funded through to completion for these courses.
The rationale for reforming post-16 qualifications is based on 3 principles - simplifying a complex system, creating a new, world-class technical offer, and improving progression outcomes. A levels and T Levels are at the heart of level 3, 16-19 study programmes, supported by a range of AAQs and TQs, that are necessary, high quality and have a clear purpose.
By ensuring that approved qualifications meet new, more rigorous criteria for public funding, young people can be confident that they will be able to progress to university and higher technical education, and directly into apprenticeships and skilled employment.
