Can an industry placement be done abroad?

Although we would expect it to be the norm for placements to be delivered within the UK, we are looking at the long-term feasibility and implications of sending students abroad for their industry placements. 

Currently, overseas placements can only occur for a portion of the student’s placement, if for example, the employer’s main training centre is based in another country and it is standard practice to send employees for this particular training. 

In this scenario, it is critical that you discuss the logistics with the employer, ensure that appropriate monitoring, review and safeguarding processes are in place and ensure you have formal agreement from the student and their parents/guardians. In these circumstances, we would expect providers to adhere to the same monitoring rules.
