Additional considerations for Building Services Engineering for Construction

There are currently no mandatory additional requirements for T Levels, but this is being kept under review through the development of the programme. There are, however, some supplementary recommendations for some specific T Level courses that a could be beneficial to some students for their industry placement, or as they move on to a job.

As a college or school delivering T Levels, you can decide whether to include them in your T Level programme.

Construction T Level in Building Services Engineering

  • Construction site card
If students require a construction site card for their industry placement, colleges and schools may need to think about delivering the health and safety content of the technical qualification early.
  • FGas Category 1 Certificate (Refrigeration Engineering and Air Conditioning Engineering occupational specialism only).
Having a FGas Category 1 Certificate is a mandatory requirement in some workplace settings. Students may want to complete this certificate before doing their industry placement so they gave access to a wider range of placement opportunities. It may also improve their employment opportunities when they finish the course.
