Are there any additional requirements for T Levels?

There are currently no mandatory additional requirements for T Levels, but this is being kept under review through the development of the programme. There are, however, some supplementary recommendations for some specific T Level courses that a could be beneficial to some students for their industry placement, or as they move on to a job. As a college or school delivering T Levels, you can decide whether to include them in your T Level programme.

Considerations for wave 1 T Levels

Education and Childcare

  • DBS basic or enhanced checks and disqualified disclosure
    Where required, students should complete this check before they start their industry placement.
  • Safeguarding training
    Colleges and schools should ensure that students do any relevant safeguarding training before they start their industry placement.
  • Food and hygiene (for the Early Years Educator occupational specialism only)
    Dependent on the nature of the industry placement, it may help students to do some relevant food and hygiene training before they start.

Construction T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction

  • Construction site card
    If students require a construction site card for their industry placement, colleges and schools may need to think about delivering the health and safety content of the technical qualification early.

Construction T Level in Building Services Engineering

  • Construction site card
    If students require a construction site card for their industry placement, colleges and schools may need to think about delivering the health and safety content of the technical qualification early.
  • FGas Category 1 Certificate (Refrigeration Engineering and Air Conditioning Engineering occupational specialism only).
    Having a FGas Category 1 Certificate is a mandatory requirement in some workplace settings. Students may want to complete this certificate before doing their industry placement so they gave access to a wider range of placement opportunities. It may also improve their employment opportunities when they finish the course.

Health and Science T Level in Health

  • DBS basic or enhanced checks and disqualified disclosure
    Where required, students should complete this check before they start their industry placement.
  • Care qualification or training (Supporting Healthcare occupational specialism only)
    Dependent on the nature of the industry placement, it may help students to do a relevant care
    qualification and / or do some relevant training.
  • Health check
    Before starting their industry placement, students should have the relevant inoculations and
    immunisations. These will be determined by the employers  they are doing their placement with.

    Colleges and schools should think about doing the food hygiene, safety, and handling content of the technical qualification early, a sit will help the students when they start their placement.
