T Levels: Group Industry Placement - Agriculture, Environmental and Animal Care: The essential guide to the core T Level content with Colchester Zoological Society
Join Lee McAlpin, the Deputy Conservation Education Manager at Colchester Zoological Society (AKA Colchester Zoo), for a much-anticipated virtual industry placement on the core knowledge and understanding across the Agriculture, Environmental and Animal Care T Level Route.
After graduating university with a BSc (Hons) in Animal Welfare and Management, Lee started working at Colchester Zoo as an Animal Keeper and in 2015 transferred onto the Education Team with a focus on work-based learning, supporting apprenticeships and work experience schemes. Alongside his work at the zoo, Lee is an Assessor and a member of the review group for the Level 3 in Keeper and Aquarist apprenticeship.
With over 20 years’ experience working at zoos, at this workshop Lee will explain Colchester Zoological Society’s journey and transition from a private business to a charity and will use Colchester Zoo as a case study to understand parts of the core content, such as:
- Real world application of Health and Safety in a zoological setting
- Practical application of Biosecurity
- How zoos can be sustainable
- The business side of how a zoo operates
- Record keeping in zoos
There will also be a live Q&A during the session.
