Qualification Review Timeline - 2024
| May | Initial publication of approved level 3 qualifications in cycle 1: A List of level 3 qualifications that have been approved for public funding in cycle 1 for first teach in 2025 will be published. A list of qualifications that will be defunded from 2025, as they have not been approved through the new process, will be published alongside this. |
| June | Cycle 2 level 3 qualification submission window for AOs: Deadline for AOs to submit level 3 qualifications for approval in cycle 2, first teach in 2026. |
| July | Final publication of approved level 3 qualifications in cycle 1: Any changes to the approved list of level 3 qualifications for cycle 1 following a process for AOs to challenge approvals by a procedural review. Initial publication of approved level 2 qualifications in cycle 1: A list of level 2 qualifications that have been approved in cycle 1 for first teach in 2025 will be published. A list of qualifications that will be defunded from 2025, as they have not been approved through the new process, will be published alongside this. |
| August | Defunding level 3 qualifications that overlap with Wave 1 and 2 T Levels: funding withdrawn from technical qualifications which overlap with wave 1 and 2 T Levels (1 August). The last date for new starts will be 31 July. (see list here) T Level rollout: Introduction of T Levels in animal care and management, craft & design and media broadcast and production. |
| September | Final publication of approved level 2 qualifications in cycle 1: Any changes to the approved list of level 2 qualifications for cycle 1, following a process for AOs to challenge approvals by a procedural review. |
| October | Cycle 2 level 2 qualification submission window: Deadline for AOs to submit level 2 technical qualifications (occupational entry, additional specialist and employer-proposed) and progression qualifications (academic, technical, T Level foundation) in cycle 2 areas, for first teach from August 2026. |
